Fall 2010 Runway Recap
Overall, designers have shifted their focus from costume to reality, creating looks that are wearable beyond the runway.
Military is one of the hottest trends for fashionistas all over the globe. The big looks reporting for duty this Fall are the anorak, the cargo pant (including a new slimmer version for evening!), the lace-up boot and the pea coat. And details are key – brassy buttons, epaulettes and lots of pockets all play a major role. Shop Military
If this edgier trend is not your style, 1950′s gracious glamour has returned with a renewed sense of sophisticated femininity. Fit and Flare dresses in longer lengths, nipped waists, vintage floral prints and sweet cardigans pay homage to the essence of yesteryear. Dainty ladylike handbags replace the oversized styles from previous seasons. And, pointy toe kitten heels look fresh again, especially when paired with the longer dress and skirt lengths. Fur, another major trend, makes its way in the vintage ladylike trend and looks chic in “pulled from grandma’s closet” silhouettes. On the fur must-have list – trapezed swing coats, luxurious neck wraps, leopard spots and evening chubbies. Surprising new touches of fur show up on handbags and boots too.
Lastly, once you’ve run all over town in your glamorous digs, there’s nothing like the comfortable feeling of cozy sweater knits. Folkloric fair isles, chunky cables, and luxurious cashmere will keep you warm and happy without sacrificing your style. Shop Cashmere
